Welcome to the Garage at Chatham 2024 season!
A Summer Arts Series honoring the tradition of the 19th century salon. Our 5th season is sure to have something for everyone - classical music, jazz, theatre, dance and much, much more!
2024 Summer Schedule
We open on Saturday, June 29th with the critically acclaimed PUBLIQuartet. On Saturday, July 13th, the great pianist Taka Kigawa performs in Olivier Messiaen’s rarely heard masterpiece Quartet for the End of Time (1941) for piano, clarinet, violin and cello, together with a world premiere, commissioned for the GAC by composer Charles Coleman, the GAC’s 2024 composer-in-residence. On July 27th, we welcome back world-renowned violinist Miranda Cuckson for one of her celebrated solo recitals. August 10th features “The Waste Land” project, a reading of TS Elliot poems with original music by Thomas Bo and dance choreographed by Nadia Khayrallah.
Other highlights will include the return of Jazz at the GAC featuring the Barbara Issac Ensemble (July 20th) and the Kirk Knuffke Trio (August 23rd).
The season concludes with Jean-Paul Sartre’s existentialist play No Exit (1941) on September 21st. The play, first performed in Paris right after the Nazi occupation, will be directed by acclaimed German Director Carmen Jakobi, the GAC’s 2024 artist-in-residence.
Our aim is to provide our beautiful Columbia County with chamber music, dance, theatrical works, and we regularly feature new, never-seen-before works from world-class artists. Our shows are regularly no more than 90 minutes, and are free (although donations are appreciated)!
We hope that if you are visiting the Village of Chatham for the first time, you will spend the day here, and enjoy our parks, shops, and restaurants.
Please join us!
